Ceramic or ‘tooth coloured’ braces are a more cosmetic version of the metal fixed brace. The individual brackets attached to each tooth are ‘tooth coloured’ and blend in with your teeth, making them discreet.
Fixed braces are the mainstay of orthodontic treatment as they are used for solving more complex problems where a large amount of tooth movement is required. They afford detailed and controlled tooth movement, unlike removable or aligner type appliances. They are used for most problems ranging from severely crooked/spaced teeth to teeth that stick out.
Treatment duration can last for as little as 6 months but complex cases can take about 2 years.
