Invisalign treatment involves using a series of clear, thin ‘gumshield type’ braces to gradually straighten the teeth over a period of time. These are custom made for your teeth after a precise manufacturing process. There are no brackets or wires attached to the teeth.
The aligners are changed approximately every 2 weeks with each aligner applying a gentle pressure to gradually move teeth to their end position in a ‘step – by – step’ manner. The number of aligners required varies from case to case, as does the length of treatment.
The number of aligners and length of treatment is determined by the treatment plan devised by your orthodontist and inputting this plan through specialised computer software. The average course of treatment lasts from 9 to 18 months. The aligners can be removed for eating/drinking so diet restrictions are avoided.
Invisalign is not suitable for all cases but advances in the system are allowing treatment of an increasing number of problems of more severity.
A consultation with the Invisalign Certified Specialist Orthodontist at Redcliffe shall allow you to discover whether Invisalign is suitable for you to provide a decent result. If not, then rest assured you shall be informed of alternatives so that the end result is not compromised by using the wrong system.
